American Legion Post 14: Legion family members and guests will be celebrating the Fourth of July with a barbecue on the patio, from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday. Hotdogs and hamburgers are provided by the post, and the rest of the menu is potluck. So bring your favorite side dish or dessert and enjoy our back patio, play some pool or pitch a few horseshoes. Come on down to enjoy good food and good company. Post 14 will be hosting a blood drive on July 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are recommended. Belles of St. Mary: This Saturday, July 2, the Belles are asked to help sponsor our Catholic Youth Group as they work for the dollars needed to join the World Catholic Youth gathering in Spain (that's across the Pacific Ocean!). There will be a car wash and a bake sale to boot from 8 a.m. to about 3 p.m. Saturday at Uptown Drug, 2820 E. Andy Devine. All Belles are urged to both sport a shiny clean car and exhibit their baking prowess on behalf of our kids. Any questions? Call Monica at (928) 279-4018. Of course, we are all eagerly anticipating the "Christmas in July" sale on Saturday, July 17, at the Parish Center on Spring Street. A life-long collection of Santas from around the world was donated to our cause. Santas of every size, color and description will be offered for the community's buying pleasure. Bring a friend. There is one tiny, but very important, correction to be made to our calendar of events. The Belles will attend Mass at 8 a.m. in honor or St. Anne's Feast Day on Sunday, July 25. After Mass, the bevy of Belles will raise a toast of orange juice at Calico's in historic downtown Kingman.

Mutt Matchers and Friends: Mutt Matchers has initiated a new program called SPOT - Stop Pet Overpopulation Together. SPOT will provide free spay and neuter of dogs for low-income families that meet the requirements in the greater Kingman area. Applications and instructions can be found at www.muttmatchers.org. Applications can also be picked up at our adoption center at 1001 Buchanan St. in Kingman on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mail donations to P.O.
