Obituary: Mary Christina Baker
Mary Christina Grossmiller Baker, 67, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at her home in Golden Valley surrounded by those she loved and who loved her. Mary's life may have been taken short by cancer, but her legacy will live on forever in her family and friends.
Mary was born Sept. 16, 1942, in The Dalles, Ore., to George R. Grossmiller and Kay Nelson Bailey.
Mary moved to Golden Valley in 2003 where she loved the Arizona sunshine along with the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Mary loved life and went through it at full speed. Mary loved to cook and play bingo; she was a stranger to no one. Her genuine love for those in need taught the rest of us to truly love one another and to look for ways to serve those in need. Mary was a friend to many people in this beautiful community and will be missed by all.
One of Mary's favorite pastimes was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the "holiday chef" and we always looked forward to what recipes she would bring for us to try.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Baker; three children, Wendy (Jamie) Hull of Ridgefield, Wash., Lisa (Craig) Freyou and ElizaBeth (Steve) Miller both of Holbrook, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Her brothers include Mike Grossmiller, Pat and Mike Wheeler of The Dalles and Danny Wheeler of Dallesport, Wash.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and son, Mark Baker.
