Dolan man arrested in axe assault

KINGMAN - A 42-year-old Dolan Springs man was arrested Saturday for allegedly using an axe to attack his dad's girlfriend after she reportedly refused his sexual advances.

Trish Carter, spokeswoman for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, said deputies responded to the 14800 block of N. Eureka Drive just before 8 p.m. Saturday after the 55-year-old victim used a cell phone to call 911.

She told deputies that she and her boyfriend's son, Guy Neal O'Connor Jr., were arguing when he grabbed a hatchet from the fireplace and hit her in the head. Carter said the deputies' report quotes O'Connor as saying, "That shut her up."

The victim said the pair were arguing because she refused to sleep with him. The victim was transferred to Kingman Regional Medical Center, where she was treated for a non-life threatening laceration to her head. This wasn't the first time O'Connor has been arrested for assaulting the woman. Deputies arrested him April 18 for misdemeanor assault. He is charged in Saturday's incident with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon per domestic violence.
