Letter: Should I trust the water company or common sense?
Is your dog sick? Don't know why? How about yourself? Feeling "under the weather"? Well, maybe it's the water.
I live in So-Hi Estates and for some time now we have been getting notices about coliform bacteria in the water supply. We are told that each time a sample of water comes up positive, they chlorinate the water system and it is safe to drink.
We are also told that coliform bacteria is harmless except for people with immune deficiencies and the very young and very old.
But this month, September, the water is different. My dogs have all been acting sick; I haven't felt so great either. On Sept. 10, a water sample came up positive for e-coli bacteria; some small, hard-to-read drinking water warning signs were put up over the weekend and taken down today, Sept. 13.
I was told the last sample tested negative and not to worry; the water is safe to drink.
I don't think so. Do I trust my symptoms and dogs or the last sample from the water company?
