Underage girls, alcohol a recipe for two Kingman-area arrests
Two young males charged for sexual conduct with a minor
KINGMAN - Two males were arrested last week in separate incidents involving underage girls and alcohol.
Kingman Police made their first arrest on Wednesday, when 21-year-old Justin Oliver Fletcher was booked into the Mohave County Jail on charges of sexual conduct with a minor and child molestation for an incident involving a 15-year-old girl. Capt. Rusty Cooper said detectives began their investigation when contacted by the parents last fall after the girl disclosed the alleged assault during counseling she was receiving. It's not clear if the counseling was a direct result of the incident or if other issues played a role.
Cooper said the girl was 14 in December 2009 when she attended a party where the assault was reported to have taken place. Cooper said both the girl and Fletcher, who was 20 at the time, had been drinking. It's not clear if they were involved in a relationship.
Police arrested a 17-year-old boy two days after Fletcher's arrest for an unrelated incident with a similar set of circumstances. Cooper said this incident also involved a 14-year-old girl who attended a party with other kids on Tuesday of last week at a local motel.
Cooper said alcohol also played a heavy factor in that alleged assault, which the girl reported to her parents the next day. The parents then went to police and the 17-year-old was arrested at his Golden Valley home the same day.
He faces charges of sexual conduct with a minor. He is not being identified because he is under 18.
Cooper said police have responded to numerous parties involving underage drinking in recent weeks.
