In memory of: Millie Harper
Millie Harper, 89 years of age, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Kingman Regional Medical Center. Her earthly body was tired and worn out, but the Lord gave her a new body and a new life.
Millie was born in Lancaster, Texas, on Sept. 16, 1921; lived in Inglewood, Calif., for many years; and worked at TRW and Hugh's Aircraft Company. She lived in Kingman since 1984. She was a member of Kingman Christian Church, where she attended regular Bible study and church services. She was a regular at the KRMC Wellness Center. She also was involved in a senior social group called Saints Alive that included hymn singing and a potluck. In the past, she volunteered at the Mohave Museum of History and Arts. Millie and her husband were regulars at the Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center and were involved in music with the Oldies But Goodies band.
They loved swap-meeting with their son and going to yard sales. She enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, sewing and reading. She enjoyed her trips to the Holy Land and to Hawaii. She was a very social person and loved her family and other people. She has lots of friends and family who will miss her so much. Millie was a very special lady. She was a good listener, mentor, wonderful friend, and the best mother, sister, grandmother, mother-in-law, and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Harper; parents, Walter and Mary Ann James; grandson, Daniel O'Malley; great-grandson, James O'Malley; and her son, Bud Harper, who passed away in July 2010.
Millie leaves behind her son, Dan O'Malley; sister, Ruth Angle; daughter-in-law, Betty Harper; grandchildren, David O'Malley, Dana Kay O'Malley, Sybil Clark, Patrick O'Malley, Clifford Harper; and Sandy Averett. Millie has 22 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 1, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave. The viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. The service will be at 11 a.m., with graveside services immediately following.
Many thanks to Dr. Bokhari and all the staff at KRMC who provided medical assistance to Millie. You did all you could. The family appreciates the care provided.
