KINGMAN - If you decided to stay in town for the Fourth of July, you must be wondering: "What's going on?"

At the fairgrounds from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, the Mohave County Fair Association will host a Fourth of July festival. It will include a Little Miss Firecracker contest and Little Fourth of July contest for children 5 and under. There will also be a talent show and, of course, the fireworks display hosted by the city of Kingman. Admission and parking are $2 apiece. Call (928) 727-4591 or (928) 727-4592 for more information.

Also part of the fairground festivities will be the 3rd annual Best of Mohave County 8-Ball Tournament. Sign-ups will be at 10 a.m., and there is a $20 entry fee. There will be food, drinks and entertainment as well. Proceeds go to the American Legion Child Welfare Fund. Call (928) 530-0739 for more information.

Both Kingman pools have free swim from 1 to 5 p.m., and people can play tennis on the city courts for free as well.

The Valle Vista Country Club is hosting an 8 a.m. shotgun start scramble golf tournament. Registration starts at 7 a.m.

There will also be children's games at 5 p.m., raffle drawings, a cakewalk and free fireworks at 9 p.m. Organizers suggest people bring a chair or blanket. Call (928) 757-8744 for more information.

Kingman Elks Lodge No. 468 will host an all-day Fourth of July picnic at Firefighter's Memorial Park on Detroit Avenue starting at 10 a.m. Hamburgers and hotdogs are on the menu, as are bottled water, sodas and beer. Meal deals with chips and drinks included are $5.

DJ Phantom will spin tunes all day and end with a synchronized piece to go with the fireworks.
