The shutdown of the Federal Aviation Administration could affect two projects at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport. One is the design and construction of a new firehouse, the other is the acquisition of a new fire truck. Lawmakers were unable to resolve a partisan dispute over an extension of the agency's operating authority, which expired at midnight July 22. The airport's aircraft rescue firefighting facility design is under way and almost complete, said airport director David Gaines. "Funding up to a certain point has been authorized but none of it's been released from Washington."
