Obituary: Gerald E. Ebersol

Gerald E. Ebersol, born to Leon and Mabel Ebersol on Nov. 2, 1931, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. He was 79 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Linda D. Ebersol, who he married on Aug. 29, 1986 (soon to have been 25 years). They moved from Las Vegas to Dolan Springs, Ariz., in November 1988, when he retired as a meat cutter. He also owned a meat shop with his father in Lowville, N.Y., in 1959.

He served the Army in the 31st Infantry Regiment during the Korean War, from February 1953 to January 1955. He was proud to have served his country.

He is also survived by his three daughters, Kerri Ebersol of Omaha, Neb., Jenny Varela of Las Vegas and Connie (Hubert) Snelgrove of Las Vegas; and stepson, Carlton (Michelle) Russell of Hesperia, Calif. Gerald has 13 grandchildren, 11 by his daughters and two by his stepson. In addition he is survived by three sisters, Charlotte (Don) Hunziker of Glenfield, N.Y., Sandy (Ed) Zehr of Croghan, N.Y., and Lois Baker of Lowville; and two brothers, Fred (Barb) Ebersol of Croghan and Warren (Sandy) Ebersol of Castorland, N.Y.; and so many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Fern Reed of Carthage, N.Y.; and two brothers, Kayland (Pete) Ebersol of Glenfield, N.Y., and Calvin Ebersol of Watson, N.Y.

Gerald E. Ebersol will be laid to rest at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005.
