Soroptimist International of Kingman gave out three Soroptimist Awards Thursday at the Elks Lodge to local women and girls. The Women's Opportunity Award, which assists women head of households with resources they need to improve their education, skills and job prospects, went to Valerie Hunter. The Violet Richardson Award went to Haley Owen for her volunteer efforts. The Ruby Award went to Wendy Rapp of Angel Manor, who is helping women recover from drug and alcohol abuse and guiding them to be proactive members of society. Standing from left to right at the ceremony are Soroptimist President Deb Liverence, Soroptimist Mary Ann Smith, Valerie Hunter, Wendy Rapp and Soroptimist First Vice President Susan Williams. Haley Owen was not present.
