Well, so much for one of my favorite shows, Dancing With the Stars, staying old-fashioned and family friendly.

Enter Chaz Bono, who used to be cute little blonde Chastity Bono that Sonny and Cher, whose show I loved, used to carry around the stage with them.

Also enter Hollywood left wing correctness, transgender, homophobic, blah, blah, blah. We'll hear it all this season.

Just as poor lesbian Margaret Cho, who danced in her rainbow dress, got in her support for lesbianism the year she was on, Chaz will get in her support for, well, I'm not sure for what.

I say that because I watched Ellen DeGeneres interview Chaz the other day and Ellen, herself a self-professed lesbian, got so confused at what Chaz is, it made for a very uncomfortable interview. So much so, I switched to an NCIS re-run, something I could understand.

If Ellen can't even understand it, how is poor Chaz going to explain it to us dumbbells out here still clinging to our guns and Bibles in between the Argentine two-step and the paso doble?

It just may backfire as it seemed to do with Margaret. I thought her dancing and improvement were excellent but she was voted off early. I think it was the lousy right wing conservatives voting against her out here because they still believe God paired up Bill and Jill, not Rena and Tina. They put too much emphasis on that rainbow dress and not enough on how much better her quick step was. A real shame.

I don't think Chaz wants sympathy but I can't help but feel sorry for her. She thinks she is a guy now, bless her heart.

She isn't of course. She is a girl with sideburns and a deep voice who had her breasts cut off. A number of my girlfriends had their breasts cut off. They are still girls but now we call them cancer survivors.

There isn't too much left that surprises Americans anymore (well, except for Jersey Shore and the Kardashians, of course), but I suspect in a couple of years the producers of DWTS will come to their must-be-politically-correct and it's all about ratings senses and we'll simply go back to the way things used to be on there. Meanwhile, I will continue to watch because when all is said and done, it's still going to be about how well Chaz does the quick step to me.

And there is always the off chance she will nix the trans whatever theme and go for trimming off a mountain of you know what like Kirstie Alley did last year. Now that would really be something to inspire us, because not too many of us are going to "change our sex" but some of us sure might be encouraged to get thin.
