Kingman Photos: KABAM

May 19th was proclaimed "KABAM! Festival Day" at Kingman City Hall Tuesday morning. In attendance were Kingman representatives and Kingman Area Books Are Magic (KABAM) committee members. The Mohave Library Alliance and city of Kingman Parks and Recreation Department are sponsoring the annual book festival to promote literacy in the Kingman area. The proclamation states that "literacy is the foundation of the economic, educational and cultural well being of a community." From left to right are Trish Cobb, Kathy McGehee, City councilwoman Janet Watson, Barbara Patterson, Bruce Carter and Kristi Turman. The KABAM Festival will be held over many days from May 4-19. Events will kick off May 4 with an artist's and photographer's reception on "First Friday" at Beale Street Brews and, culminating in a KABAM Poetry Slam in downtown Kingman on May 18, and the main event will be on May 19 in Metcalfe Park downtown.
