Man arrested for alleged thefts from vehicles in Kingman
Police said their enhanced patrol efforts in response to a rise in car burglaries paid off in the arrest of a 40-year-old man reportedly found to be in possession of stolen property.
Kingman Police Capt. Rusty Cooper said officers tried to pull over the driver of a car seen traveling with its headlights off in the 3900 block of Harvard Street just after midnight Friday.
The driver, later identified as James Allen Coffman, led officers on a short chase to Stockton Hill Road. When he was arrested, Cooper said officers found methamphetamine, along with items recently reported stolen out of multiple vehicles that had been broken into.
Officers obtained a search warrant, which was served at Coffman's apartment in the 3000 block of Hualapai Mountain Road, and said they found even more stolen property. Cooper said Coffman is believed to be responsible for multiple vehicle burglaries and thefts in the Kingman area over the past few months.
He added that the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible. Coffman was booked into the Mohave County Jail felony charges of burglary 3rd degree, possession of stolen property, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of narcotic drugs.
