McDonald's collecting funds for Ariz. youth soccer
McDonald's is teaming up with the Arizona Youth Soccer Association for a fundraiser on each of the four Saturdays in January.
From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28, two McDonald's locations will donate a portion of their front counter sales to the Northern Arizona Youth Soccer League.
The fundraiser does not apply to drive-thru sales and will only take place at the participating Andy Devine Avenue and Walmart locations.
The Northern Arizona Youth Soccer League originally supported teams in Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, Flagstaff and Kingman before population growth allowed each city to have its own league. More than 700 Kingman kids play in the local league each year, said NAYSL representative Tom Poole. Parents and other unpaid volunteers make up the support staff.
The local fundraising effort is part of a larger statewide goal to raise $50,000 for club registration scholarships and the Olympic Development Program for players in need.
