Motorcyclist arrested after police chase
A 24-year-old Kingman man spent the start of the new year in jail after leading authorities on a police chase across the eastern part of the city.
Bailey Christopher Havens told police he panicked when a Kingman police officer tried to pull him over in the 1300 block of Stockton Hill Road around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31.
Kingman Police Sgt. Bob Fisk said Havens' motorcycle passed an officer while going more than 70 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone.
Officers and deputies from the Department of Public Safety and the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, along with the DPS Air Ranger, joined in the pursuit. Havens reportedly led officers up Hualapai Mountain Road and headed northeast, where he ended up on Airway Avenue to Andy Devine Avenue.
Eventually the chase looped around to Bank Street, where Fisk said Havens abandoned his motorcycle and fled on foot. He was found by authorities hiding under a car in the 4400 block of Bank Street.
Havens is charged with felony unlawful flight. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
