Military: Specialist Matthew A. Cardeccia
Specialist Matthew A. Cardeccia (right) graduated Advanced Individual Training with the 232nd Medical Battalion at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, on June 1. As a combat medic, he received 16 weeks of training with the Dragon Medics of Delta Company. Among his graduation awards he received the top honor among his class of 321, the Colonel Brian D. Allgood Distinguished Honor Graduate Award. To be considered for this award, the soldier must have the highest cumulative grade point average, pass all initial testing to include hands-on skills, the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians Exam, and the Army physical fitness test. Additionally, the soldier must be recommended for academic honors, in writing, by his instructors.
Specialist Cardeccia has now been assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo. A graduate of Kingman High School, he is the son of Peter and Debbie Cardeccia of Kingman.
