A Dolan Springs woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly running over her boyfriend with her truck.
The 32-year-old man was airlifted from the scene of the accident on Pierce Ferry Road at Spur Drive around 9 p.m. Thursday. He was last listed in critical condition at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
The girlfriend, Catherine Maria Candelaria, 44, is charged with felony aggravated assault. She says she was acting in self-defense and told deputies with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office that her boyfriend broke out a window in her truck as the two argued.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter says that argument took place on Tom White Drive earlier in the evening and that Candelaria left in her Ford pickup after the window was broken while the boyfriend left on foot.
A short time later, Candelaria reportedly located the man on Pierce Ferry Road and the pair began to argue again. It was during the second argument, Carter said, that Candelaria took off in the truck while the boyfriend held onto the driver's side door and was dragged a short distance.
Carter said witnesses reported seeing Candelaria stop the truck, at which point the boyfriend walked around to the front of the vehicle. She then started the truck, running over the man as she sped off, according to witnesses.
Candelaria was arrested at a residence in the 18100 block of Olive Street.
