Reader Letter: Not enough done against hoarding
What am I missing regarding the "rights" animal hoarders are given? Yes, hoarding is a real sickness, so I'm trying to understand, but when these very sick animals are piling up and permitted to run free to find a meal, the disease is spread through our neighborhood and passed on to humans and pets.
Now, I'm talking about anywhere between 60-80 or more inbred cats and kittens from one hoarder's home. Rescue groups have tried to help, and I have too. It's a never-ending pattern. In my opinion, these owners should be charged with animal cruelty. The authorities are aware, but it seems to me nothing is done soon enough.
Many of the kittens and adult cats have been removed and helped but they have no clue to how many more are still there. It's heartbreaking to see so many die and be left all over our roads and washes.
I could continue with my feelings, but there's no point, since it's so sad and hard on me.
