Obituary: Doris G. Drake
Doris G. Drake, 95, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013. She was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Sheboygan, Wis., but lived most of her first 60 years in the area of Buffalo, N.Y. She was married to John G. Drake in November of 1946 and had two children.
She worked as an accounting clerk in the Williamsville, N.Y., School District business office for 20 years. During that time, she served as PTA president at the local elementary school for many years. Doris and John were charter members of and served at the Faith United Church of Christ. Upon retiring in 1974, they soon moved to Phoenix.
Doris was preceded in passing by her parents, Arno and Thora Gollhardt; husband, John G.; son, John A. Drake; brothers, Donald and DuWayne Gollhardt; and sister, Evelyn Gollhardt.
The past 10 years Doris has lived in Kingman to be with her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Raymond Stadler. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Diana Drake; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Carmelita) and Darrell (Carol) Gollhardt; and sister, Elaine Fuller.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Kingman Presbyterian Church, 2425 Detroit Ave., Kingman, AZ 86401-4224. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to the church for the music fund.
The family would like to thank The Gardens Rehab and Care Center for the excellent care Doris received during the last 16 months of her life.
