Motorists are advised to stay off of Interstate 40 west of Kingman this morning when crews with the Arizona Department of Transportation install electronic message signs.
The interstate will be briefly closed in both directions twice, with the first closure occurring about 7:30 a.m. and the second roughly 90 minutes later. The signs are being installed throughout the state. Known as "dynamic messaging signs," they span the width of the roadway and are used to help inform drivers of traffic, road and weather conditions.
In addition to the two closures, lane restrictions will be in effect throughout the day, with intermittent eastbound lane closures between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. of about 30 minutes each in duration.
