Obituary: James Piper
On Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, our beloved father and grandfather, James Stanley Piper, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 87.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1925, in Boone, Iowa, and is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence Piper; his wife of 27 years, Betty Piper; his brothers, Myron, Charles and Willis; and sister, Beverly. He is survived by his sister, Wanda Wilson; son, James Scott Piper; daughter-in-law, Lorena Ramos Piper; daughter, Marilyn Piper-Seybold; son-in-law, Hans Seybold; grandchildren, Traci Slack, James Sean and Kristina Lea Piper; and great-grandson, Jared Slack.
Jim joined the U.S. Navy and served for 30 years, retiring as lieutenant commander. He traveled the world and served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired and moved to Kingman 18 years ago.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father with a kind heart, sly sense of humor, and unending sense of honor, duty and devotion.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, at Mountain View Cemetery, 1301 Stockton Hill Road. All who wish to honor his life are invited to attend.
