Obituary: Dorothie 'Dossie' Bostwick
Dossie S. Bostwick was born to Kathleen Knox and Arthur Knox (deceased) on July 28, 1925, in Sydney, Australia. She left her earthly body at KRMC on Monday, June 17, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her first husband, Kjarten Aurdal; her second husband, John Manley; and her fourth husband, Wilbur Bostwick.
She leaves behind her daughters, Caroline (Gary) Palmquist of Kingman and Lynette Blue of Bend, Ore.; grandsons, Kirk Hansen and Russell Cooper; and granddaughter, Tawnie Hansen.
Better known as Dossie, she immigrated to the USA in 1946 with her husband and daughter Lynette.
She had a varied career and never turned down a challenge - her first career as a secretary, then buying two hotels in Portland, Ore., a diet business and a tavern. Her last endeavor was as the owner and operator of a jewelry and antique store in Portland prior to retiring.
She retired in 1990, traveled the U.S. and returned several times to her beloved Australia. She never quite lost her Aussie accent and was always proud of her heritage. She was one of the founding members of The Purple Prose Red Hat chapter and will always be the "Dutchess of Diamonds." God speed Sweet Mom, gone but never forgotten.
There will be a celebration of life at her daughter's home from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 3.
