Gosnell's Abortion House of Horrors - Isolated Incident or the Norm?

Gosnell's Abortion House of Horrors - Isolated Incidents or the Norm?

Abortionist Kermit Gosnell has been found guilty of first-degree murder for killing Baby A, C and D. Sad these babies had to be known by letters, never having known the warmth of a mother's arms nor the careful thought most babies receive in their naming.

Gosnell was also convicted on hundreds of other charges including involuntary manslaughter in the death of a woman during a botched abortion. He left the trial unrepentant, feeling he had done nothing wrong in spite of testimony that he killed hundreds of babies, one so big it rolled over. One, born in a toilet, flapped his arms as all humans automatically do trying to keep from drowning. He was pulled out of the toilet and promptly had his spinal cord snipped. I can't imagine anything more degrading to a human being. Gosnell will die in prison, as he should.

One assistant prosecutor sobbed as the verdict was read.

Baby Boy A was so large when born, Gosnell joked, "this baby is big enough to walk with me to the bus stop." Then, as the baby moved his arms and legs, Gosnell cut the spinal cord. Abortion clinic workers were stunned at his size and took phone pictures.

Baby C breathed for 20 minutes, then as the abortion worker pulled her arm up, she drew it back herself. Then the worker snipped her spinal cord.

Baby D was born crying. The Mother heard her cry and called for help and while she watched, Gosnell snipped her spinal cord and flipped her into a waste bin.

Other convictions were for corpse abuse, filth in the clinic which had not been inspected in 17 years in spite of complaints - and then only because of drug charges against Gosnell. Workers aided in abortions with no medical training, bags and bottles filled with dead babies were found laying around, and a shelf contained feet of deceased babies Gosnell had cut off and saved for some sick reason.

It is hard for me to write about this, but it needs to be written because most of the press had a blackout on the trial. But are the horrors of this clinic isolated or does this happen in other abortion clinics?

Operation Rescue workers feel it is more common than we would like to think. And they have one particular abortion mill and doctor in mind when they say this.

Three informants used Operation Rescue's Abortion Whistleblowers Program after the start of the Gosnell trial to report abortionist Douglas Karpen breaking the law in Houston. The three women worked at one of Karpen's three abortion clinics and had horrific experiences there. A fourth has come forward anonymously.

According to a number of sources online, the women have provided evidence of illegal late term abortions in the form of horrific phone pictures. Most of the babies are huge, having been born alive, then killed with large cuts to their necks. One child's eyes are open in a nightmarish expression of pain.

Massive bruising on some babies show they were born alive. The employees report four to 12 a day born alive, then disposed of - some by having their heads twisted off.

It has been alleged women were given large doses of cytotec, a drug causing unpredictable uterine contractions, often caused women to give birth while standing in line, sometimes in the toilet. One woman delivered in a hallway. Karpen took a rag, picked the baby up and threw it in a trash bag.

Other witness complaints by the Whistleblowers included fraudulent sonograms to show the pregnancy not so far along, fraudulent billing, surgical equipment not sterilized, re-use of disposable instruments, unqualified employees administering drugs, sexual harassment, touching women improperly while under sedation and more.

As with Gosnell, complaints made about the clinics wrongdoing have either gone unheeded or Karpen covered up when they did come, including hiring temp nurses to make it look well staffed.

In 2011, someone with Operation Rescue filed a complaint to the Texas Medical Board about Karpen performing abortions on late term pregnancies. A 16-year-old in his care died in 1988, bleeding to death after a late term abortions. He went on practicing, however, including dismembering babies too large to come out intact.

"As long as the patient had the cash, he was going to do it past 25 weeks," one whistleblower alleged. Money was the bottom line.

Twice a sewer line broke at one of his abortion clinics, the sewage spilling into a car dealership next door where employees witnessed baby parts among the sewage. Horrified, the dealership employees took pictures and called the Houston Health Department. They came but called 911 and reported they could only handle medical waste and the human parts were beyond them.

The hope was that report, pictures, the Whistleblowers testimony and Excel spreadsheets showing double billings would hurry an investigation.

Continuing to give the Texas Medical Board new information, it at first appeared they were on the case and interested. But then hearings started being postponed, then not rescheduled at all, phone calls and e-mails were not returned - and then the stunner. On Feb. 8, 2013, the investigation was completely dismissed. The board felt there was insufficient evidence to prove a violation of the Medical Practices Act occurred. No further action would be taken. No one even signed the letter.

The acts of killing viable babies by this despicable doctor and others must stop. This is an abomination. For those in agreement with me, please contact the following and insist on an investigation. Four Whistleblowers, fraudulent records and pictures of large, aborted babies and a history of bad treatment of patients and one death should certainly be enough to warrant one. Thank you for caring.
