Frontier Crossing lures Kingman Sears
KINGMAN - Sears Hometown will be moving across the road and reopening in June at Frontier Crossing, the strip mall being redeveloped at the southeast corner of I-40 and Stockton Hill Road.
The store, currently at 3115 N. Stockton Hill Road, will close shortly before the move and set up shop in a 7,600 square foot store. It will join 99 Cent Only, which is leasing a 17,000 square foot store in the shopping center being jointly redeveloped by Accelerated Development Services and Wadsworth Development. The 82,000 square foot strip mall formerly housed a grocery and call center.
"Our store is one of the first Sears Hometown stores opened in the chain," said Lisa Peterson, owner of Sears Hometown in Kingman. "We have been in the Kingman market in the same location since we opened in 1995 and have enjoyed serving our customer base. We are excited to be part of this renovated shopping center that will give us greater visibility and the opportunity to modernize and update our store."
The ownership group is in the midst of the strip mall's redevelopment, which includes updated storefronts, a modern color palette, a large freeway sign, and new landscaping and parking lot paving. Beside 99 Cent Only, which will move in this summer, the strip mall will feature three or four smaller retailers occupying spaces from 6,000 to 25,000 square feet, including a furniture, appliance and home and farm store. Also, the company is preparing the north end of the strip mall for a possible hotel for business travelers.
"We have received a high level of interest from tenants to locate into this center," said Dave Cheatham, managing principal at Accelerated Development. "They are excited to have an opportunity to be at the main retail hub for the market and to be part of a redevelopment project that will promote their retail concepts with prominent storefronts and a fresh, modern look. Sears Hometown is a terrific addition and we're excited to have them as part of this redevelopment."
