Fifth-grade students on the Manzanita Elementary School Student Council stand with Santa and Troy Palmer, Kingman Director of the Salvation Army, in front of a truck full of food crates on Nov. 21. The students held a canned food drive and gathered about 1,338 cans of food that will go to help local people in need through the Salvation Army. Palmer said the "kids did a wonderful job" and that his organization helps about 220 families a month, or about 600 individuals. Donations of canned food and clothing are always welcome and can be brought to the downtown store, 309 E. Beale St. A donation drive is planned for Dec. 14 at Walmart.
