Kingman crash caused brief power outage

KINGMAN - One of two alleged street racers crashed into a utility pole Thursday night, causing a temporary power outage in the area surrounding the 2400 block of Andy Devine Avenue.

Kingman police officers arrested Richard Lee Cook III, 20, and a 17-year-old male, who were allegedly racing at about 65 mph in the 2400 block of Andy Devine Avenue at the time of the crash.

Cook reportedly lost control of his vehicle while making a left turn at Hoover Street and Andy Devine Avenue, crashing into a utility pole at 20 mph. The crash did not seriously injure Cook, but a passenger was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Both men face misdemeanor charges of racing on a highway, exhibition of speed and reckless driving.
