Obituary: Dorothy Snyder
Dorothy Louise Snyder was born on June 18, 1940, in El Paso, Texas. She passed away on March 14, 2014, in Kingman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chet and Ola Elizabeth Shiflet; sister, JoAnna Smith; her children's father, Marvin Snyder; and her life partner, Norm Benton.
She is survived by children, Jackie Snyder of Kingman, Vickie Dickinson of Kingman and Shawn Snyder of Michigan; grandchildren, Alan, Scott, TJ, Todd, Trinity, Brittany, Shyla, Jaye and Justin; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Lynda Shiflet of Idaho, Sandra Williams of Kingman, Joe Shiflet of Sahuarita, Ariz., John LaRue of Tucson and Rene LaRue of Las Vegas.
Dorothy was raised in the small town of Central, Ariz. After living in several western states, she and Marvin settled in Kingman, where they raised their family. After Marvin's passing, she met Norm, her life partner. They traveled extensively due to their involvement with the National T-Bucket Association. She was an excellent bowler and avid golfer. Her love of animals, especially horses, started in her early youth and lasted a lifetime.
Forever young at heart, Dorothy's fun-loving personality attracted many friends from all walks of life and all ages. She had a special bond with her grandchildren that bridged all aspects of her life and she loved each one dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to: Kingman's Healing Hooves, 4290 N. Glen Road, or KRMC Joan and Diana Hospice Home, 812 Airway Ave.
There will be a celebration of Dorothy's life from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at her sister Sandra's home, 3701 Martingale Drive. Please feel free to bring a dish to share. The main dish will be provided.
