Obituary: Frances Jane Owen
Frances Jane Owen died peacefully at the age of 87 from complications of Alzheimer's disease on Nov. 6, 2014, in Phoenix. Born in Prescott, and raised in Kingman, Jane was adored and respected by all of her family members.
She loved horses, enjoyed reading and was a published author of poetry. Jane was fiercely independent. She enjoyed relating witty sayings and advice frequently. She was a spiritual person and treasured long-standing friendships.
Jane graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Business Administration and moved to Phoenix where she devoted her entire career to Arizona's Bureau of Land Management. Upon retirement, she volunteered for 16 years at John C. Lincoln Hospital.
Jane is predeceased by her parents, Addison Owen, who operated a Ford dealership in Kingman, and Nancy Owen, who was a loving homemaker. She is also predeceased by siblings Addison Owen of Needles, Calif., (wife Margaret and children Margaret Jane, Addison, Jimmy and Laura) and Martha McCall of Kingman (husband Bill and children Larry, Donna, Wayne and Will). Jane is survived by her sister Mary Chiappetti of Scottsdale and her husband Don, their children, Don, Steve, Phil and Nick, and their grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Doris Power of Kingman, her children, Nancy, Billy and Kathleen, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Valley Gardiner Home, 1522 W. Myrtle Street, Phoenix AZ 85021.
