Obituary: Frances Blalock
Frances Blalock, a previous 33-year resident of Kingman, died April 4, 2015, in Hampton, Ga., following a long illness. She was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Mansfield, Ark., the daughter of Frank Vest and Jewell Little Vest.
Frances graduated from Waldron High School, class of 1952. Following graduation, she and her husband, J.T., lived in Waldron for a short time where their daughter, Kathy, was born and then moved west to Flagstaff, where son Frank was born in 1955. When her children were in elementary school, she started college and graduated with her bachelor's degree in education, master's in education and eventually a doctorate in education from Northern Arizona University. Frances resided in Kingman for 33 years and was an elementary school teacher at Palo Christi, then principal of that school. Following that, she worked at the district office of Kingman School District No. 4.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, J.T. Blalock, and is survived by daughter Kathy (husband Tom) of Ooltewah, Tenn., and son Frank (wife Alice) of Hampton, Ga.; grandchildren, Anna Griffin (Maryville, Tenn.), Claire Ellen Dent (Macon, Ga.), and J.T. Blalock II (Hattiesburg, Miss.); four great-grandchildren; two brothers (John - Flagstaff, George (Buddy) - Louisville, Ky.) and one sister, Ruth Ann Atkinson (Albuquerque, N.M.).
Private burial is at Duncan Cemetery in the family's hometown of Waldron, Ark.
