Obituary: Robert Lindsay Nicol Jr.
Robert Lindsay Nicol Jr. was born in Trenton, N.J., Sept. 25, 1946, to Robert Nicol Sr. and Christine Hanks Nicol. He passed away Feb. 18, 2015, at KRMC after a long struggle with failing health.
Robert enlisted in the Army after graduation from high school in Glendale, Calif. While in the Army, he developed a passion for explosives and firearms. He was very proud of his extensive collection of weaponry.
Upon returning to civilian life, Robert began a career in law enforcement. He became a deputy for Mohave County Sheriff's Office and served for over 20 years. He received training and became a bomb expert. He used his skills to help train others in all types of explosives. This was his favorite part of his career in law enforcement.
Robert was preceded in death by both his mother and father, and his first wife, Joye Nicol.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Nicol; daughters, Lacy Benson, Marisa Spencer (Justin) of Virginia and Lindsay Sharp; a stepdaughter, Melinda Kemp; a stepson, John Perkins (Rhonda); a brother, Greg Nicol (Ina) of Las Vegas; two sisters, Terry Dayner and Susan Wong (Glenn) of California; and five grandchildren.
No formal services are being held according to his wishes.
