Organizations: Arbor Day

Cerbat Garden Club: On April 25, Cerbat Garden Club and the city of Kingman Clean City Commission hosted the annual Arbor Day Celebration and Tree-Planting at Monsoon Park. In spite of wet and windy conditions, almost 80 students and their families gathered to recognize this year's Arbor Day Poster Contest Winners and hear Vice Mayor Mark Wimpee read the Arbor Day proclamation. Kingman Area Master Gardeners demonstrated the proper way to plant a tree, after which those in attendance planted more trees in the park. More than 290 fifth-grade students from area schools submitted posters with this year's Arbor Day theme, "Trees are Terrific in Cities and Towns!" Cerbat Garden Club presented each student artist with a Hackberry tree sapling to take home, plant and grow. The Clean City Commission purchased the eight Fan-Tex Ash trees that were planted in the park. Local businesses and sponsors who furnished supplies and/or donated funds for Arbor Day include: Absolute Smiles Dentistry, Monica Busch Investments, Cascade Tissue, Cornerstone Podiatry, Desert Sage Nursery, Desert Thunder Motorsports, First Generation Builders, Shay Givens - Century 21, GoGoSqueeze Fruit Snacks, The Gun Shop, Hot Rod Café, Kingman Animal Hospital and Taco Bell/Desert de Oro Foods.
