Letter: Teachers & students made Arbor Day

Cerbat Garden Club would like to thank all those who made the 2015 Arbor Day Program such a success. Thank you to the 5th grade teachers who invited Cerbat GC volunteers into their classes and encouraged students to participate in the Arbor Day Poster Contest. Thank you to the 290 students who submitted a poster for the contest and to their parents for allowing them to participate. Each of those 290 students received a Hackberry tree sapling of their own to take home and plant.

Thanks to Dave Tribbett of Desert Sage Nursery for providing his expertise and time, and for ordering the saplings.

Thank you to the local businesses and individuals who provided funding for the purchase of the saplings and the cash awards to first place poster winners: Monica Busch Investments, Chris Wagner of the Gun Shop, Dr. James Allen of Cornerstone Podiatry, Dr. Ted Kimball of Absolute Smiles Dentistry, Desert Thunder Motorsports, Dr. Erica Angone of Kingman Animal Hospital and First Generation Builders.

Thank you to GoGoSqueez and Hot Rod Café for donating healthy snacks, Taco Bell for coupons and Shay Givens of Century 21 for bottled water.

Thanks to Desert Sage Nursery for delivering eight beautiful Tex-Fan Ash trees.

We gratefully acknowledge the assistance at the Community Celebration and Tree-Planting in Monsoon Park on Saturday, April 25 provided by Rich Ruggles, City of Kingman; Clean City Commission; Vice-Mayor Mark Wimpee; Kingman Parks & Recreation - Cotton Winters; and Kingman Area Master Gardeners.

Our sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone who took part in this year's event.

We look forward to working with all these fine people and next year's 5th graders at Arbor Day 2016.
