Obituary: Bertha "Birdie" Aguinaga Ayala Ybarra
Bertha "Birdie" Aguinaga Ayala Ybarra went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 23. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family.
Birdie, 70, was born March 25, 1945, in Zaragoza, Mexico, to parents Cruz and Isabel Aguinaga. At the age of 7 her parents died, leaving her and her brother and sister to be cared for by family in Mexico. At the age of 9, Birdie and her siblings went to live with relatives in Watts, Calif., where they were raised by her cousin Virginia "Vergie" Chavez. At the age of 9, while attending church, she first met Samuel Ybarra, who was 10 years old. Ten years later, on March 6, 1965, Birdie and Sam married. While living in California, their first daughter, Jessica, was born. In 1972, Birdie and Sam moved to Kingman, where second daughter Samantha,was born.
Birdie was a dedicated homemaker who raised her children to honor and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ was the foundation of everything she believed in and trusted, from which she drew her strength. This legacy was left with her children and grandchildren. Her faith and bold testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ had far-reaching impact on many whose lives she touched.
Birdie was preceded in death by parents Cruz and Isabel Aguinaga and son-in-law Steven Wusstig.
Birdie is survived by Sam Ybarra, her husband of 50 years: daughters Jessica (Rusty) Cooper of Kingman and Samantha Wusstig of Kingman; grandchildren Austin Cooper of Washington, Vanessa Cooper of Kingman, Brooklyn Wusstig of Kingman and Stevie Wusstig of Kingman; brother Gilbert Phillip Aguinaga of Oregon; and sister Maria Patricia Vaquera (Joe) of Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Kingman First Assembly of God, 1850 Gates Ave., Kingman. A graveside service follows at Mountain View Cemetery, with a reception afterward at Kingman First Assembly of God Fellowship Hall.
