New Golden Valley fire chief to be sworn in
GOLDEN VALLEY - Golden Valley Fire Chief Tom O'Donohue's last governing board meeting with Golden Valley Fire will be at 6 p.m. today at the Golden Valley Fire District Public Safety Training Center, 423 S. Colorado Road.
The board will see Assistant Chief Jack Yeager sworn in as the interim chief. O'Donohue submitted his resignation in September and will take over as chief in Whittmann. O'Donohue will remain employed by GVFD through Nov. 16, assisting Yeager in the transition.
Part of O'Donohue's departure includes canceling his district credit card, getting all district property back in GVFD's possession, and the board preparing a letter of commendation for his service.
Also on the agenda is a board discussion concerning a contract with Griffith Energy for out-of-district emergency services.
The fire district has entered into contracts throughout the valley with companies outside of the district such as Nucor Steel, UniSource, and the Arizona State Prison. Collectively, those contracts are budgeted to bring in $601,320 this year.
Griffith's contract represents nearly half of that, at $294,000.
