Letter: Drone operators getting in the way
Lately I have been hearing a lot on the news about these drones that a lot of people are flying. One thing is obvious: these people are not exercising common sense. To be frank, these people are really stupid.
Not long ago, a drone came within 100 feet of a jet liner coming into Sky Harbor. A couple of days ago a drone hit a spectator at a tennis tournament.
The one that really took the cake was a few weeks ago when there was a brush fire in the Cajon Pass along Interstate 15. The fire jumped the highway. That highway was closed in both directions for a couple of days. People were running for their lives. Sixty vehicles burned up, including a big rig.
A couple of stupid idiots decided to fly their drones. They hampered the helicopter pilots who were dropping large buckets of water on the fire. These pilots have enough to worry about without having to worry about a drone getting into one of their engines or hitting the rear rotor.
As far as I am concerned, these people ought to be arrested and prosecuted and sent to prison. If one of these choppers goes down, it could kill people.
It shows how much common sense and brains these people have.
