Cyclist, sewer call lead to offender's arrest
KINGMAN - A Kingman man who already has a case pending for alleged failure to register as a sex offender was arrested on the same charge Friday.
Gaylord George MacArthur, 33, was taken into custody after an odd chain of events. Mohave County Sheriff's deputies chased a bicyclist who ran a stop sign to a home in the 4600 block of Melody Street. They made contact with a third man at the home. Both that man and the bicyclist had misdemeanor warrants for their arrest and were taken into custody.
Deputies called the Mohave County Health Department and Code Enforcement to the home because of an open sewer and failed septic system.
While assisting employees from those departments, deputies heard someone inside another residence on the property. They made contact with that person, MacArthur, and a record check revealed he allegedly failed to maintain an accurate address as a sex offender.
He was convicted in Michigan of a sex offense involving an incapacitated victim in 2005, according to records.
He was arrested in February in Kingman and charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration status. That case is active.
