Mohave County man's prison death a suspected homicide
KINGMAN - A Mohave County man who had about four months left to serve on a prison term was the victim of a suspected homicide last week, according to the Arizona Department of Corrections.
Daniel S. Allard, 24, of Bullhead City, was found by prison staff, unresponsive but breathing, in a recreation area at the medium-security Mohave Unit at Arizona State Prison-Douglas on Feb. 3. He was taken by air ambulance to the Banner-University Medical Center in Tucson, where he died from his injuries on Saturday.
Investigators with ADOC's criminal investigations unit believe Allard died as a result of injuries caused by another inmate, according to the department. That inmate was not identified.
Allard was convicted in the fall of 2014 on a charge of attempted trafficking in stolen property and was sentenced to a 30-month term. An autopsy was conducted Monday.
