Iodence takes promotion, resigns as Volunteers football coach
KINGMAN – Jacob Iodence has stepped down as Lee Williams High School football coach to take the position of athletic director for the Volunteers.
Iodence, who came to Lee Williams from Chadron State this year, led the Vols to a 4-6 record in his only season as the football coach and kept the city championship downtown with wins over Kingman and Kingman Academy.
“I opened the position,” Iodence said. “I am more concerned with hiring a softball and a tennis coach first. I know a few of the interested candidates. We are in a good place.”
The athletic director position became available when Mike Cummings resigned several weeks ago for personal reasons. Cummings returned to Lee Williams after leading the Lady Vols softball team to the state playoffs in 2015. He had to leave Kingman and return to Washington that time due to an illness in his family.
When Cummings returned, he retook the helm of the softball team from Jess Brinkerhoff.
Now with Cummings gone, Lee Williams continues to look to fill that position. Brinkerhoff is the athletic trainer at LWHS.
