Town hall on Wednesday to focus on downtown Kingman
KINGMAN – The words “Town Hall” are slowly being seared into the community psyche.
There will be a Main Street Arizona Town Hall meeting to discuss downtown revitalization at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Central Church, 112 N. Fourth St.
“This is an opportunity to come together, come up with a great vision and come up with a strategy together on how best to work together to revitalize downtown,” said Bill Shilling, city grant administrator, who has worked on other downtown projects.
The meeting will be facilitated by the Main Street program and speakers will include Lani Lott from the Arizona Downtown Alliance, Eric Vondy from the State Historic Preservation Office and Jim McPherson the Arizona Preservation Foundation.
City Councilwoman Jamie Scott Stehly is one of the biggest cheerleaders for downtown revitalization.
“I think downtown revitalization is something a lot of people in this community are interested in,” she said.
“Downtown already has great energy,” she added. “It has come a long way in the last few years. I want to see the city (government) do their part in helping out.”
Revitalization was one of Stehly’s hot-ticket items during her campaign for city council and she’s keeping her promises to keep the ball rolling.
“I’m just excited were taking this first step,” she said. “The next step is empowering the community to go out and make changes.”
