KINGMAN – Mohave Electric is seeking applications from high school juniors to attend the Washington, D.C. Youth Tour in June 2018.

This year, MEC is sponsoring six students for the week-long educational trip to the nation’s capital, tripling the number from last year.

“The success of the attendees in their subsequent personal lives, and the popularity amongst our members of the community has prompted us to provide more opportunity for the Washington Youth Tour,” said Tyler Carlson, chief executive officer of Mohave Electric.

It’s the 26th year that Mohave has offered this experience to students whose parents or guardians are members of Mohave Electric.

It’s an opportunity for high school juniors to join more than 1,800 students from across the country to see highlights of our national history and experience first-hand what it is like to be involved in government and today’s social issues.

Applications are available at Lee Williams High School, Kingman High School and Kingman Academy of Learning, as well as Mohave Electric’s office, 928 Hancock Road, in Bullhead City.

Applications are also available to download from the Mohave Electric website at The deadline to submit the application and essay is Oct. 6. Competition for finalists is Oct. 19.
