Daily Miner readers contributed photos from the storm that came through Kingman Thursday night, Aug. 9, 2018. Zen Mocarski reported the dust was “brutal” and he had stay inside. He said the only way he could leave his house was to wear a mask.

The haboob was visible in Shadow Canyon about 6:30 p.m., and Mocarski's house was completely enveloped before 7 p.m. The dust cloud came from the north. He guessed the dust came from the Red Lake area.

Charles Black was downtown next to Western Arizona Humane Society, 950 Buchanan St., when he captured his lightning photo looking south and toward Golden Valley.
