Governor's bookmark contest includes VIP package to state fair for K-6 students
KINGMAN – Gov. Doug Ducey’s third annual Governor’s Bookmark Design Contest begins Wednesday for children in grades K – 6 to design a bookmark representing the theme “Amazing Arizona.”
The contest is partnered with the Arizona State Fair’s Read and Ride Program, which provides children from the ages of 5 – 14 the opportunity to earn free ride passes based on their reading efforts. The winning designs will help promote the program.
“Encouraging a love of reading early in life is critical to creating strong readers and successful life learners,” Ducey said.
Each winner will have their design printed on bookmarks that will be handed to students touring the Arizona State Capitol, and they will have the opportunity to meet Gov. Ducey. Each contest winner will receive a VIP package to the state fair that includes: four admission tickets, VIP parking, ride cards, and four concert tickets.
Contest entries must be submitted via mail by April 20. Contest winners will be notified by May 1. For more information on the contest, visit http://education.azgovernor.gov/edu/reading-essential.
