KINGMAN - Kingman High School, is now accepting donations for their annual Prom Fair, which will be held on Saturday, April 7 in the KHS cafeteria from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations are accepted during school hours, Monday through Thursday.
KHS is looking for dresses, unused makeup, toiletries, accessories, jewelry, dress shoes, and young men’s attire. They are also looking for blue and white graduation cap and gowns. All sorts of clothing will be accepted to have a variety and to make certain there is something for everyone.
The fair started back in 2010 and since then the outcome has been unbelievable, according to organizers. The fair is driven by faculty members and the students help sorting the donations.
“The thing about the Kingman community is all you have to do is ask,” said KHS English teacher, Jennifer Jackson.
Jackson said she received an "instantaneous" amount of replies from the community as soon as she posted on Facebook with people asking where to drop off clothing and offering volunteering services for hair and alterations.
“Everybody deserves to look beautiful on prom night and feel like a champ on graduation,” Jackson said.
In previous years, businesses from the community have joined to help out during the fair, including, All Beauty College and Toni’s Cleaners. All Beauty College offers their services such as
make-up, hair, nails, and haircuts for the boys. Toni’s Cleaners provides the students with coupons for a free dry cleaning. People have volunteered to do alterations.
According to Gerard Guedon, from All Beauty College, they offer to open on Saturdays for students to get their hair done.
KHS prom is April 28 and graduation is May 21. The fair is open to all students in town who is in need.
