College to select company for IT equipment purchase
KINGMAN – Mohave Community College board of governors will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday in Building 100 at Kingman’s Neal Campus to consider purchasing equipment to update its data center.
The equipment runs the college’s learning management system, administrative computing system, financial aid software, document storage system, service desk software and virtual access system.
“Essentially, everything but the e-mail runs on this equipment,” Chief Information Officer Mark Van Pelt said.
MCC’s procurement department received proposals from seven vendors ranging from $565,000 to $1.2 million.
After extensive review and evaluation, four vendors were selected. Each company was contacted to confirm that their products were consistent with what was requested and the vendors were given an opportunity for a best and final offer.
The evaluation committee is recommending Dell EMC as the preferred vendor for the equipment. The college recommends accepting the Dell proposal in the amount of $728,542, including taxes, fees and a 10 percent contingency.
