KINGMAN – United Blood Services will host a blood drive in Kingman from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. today in the Elks Lodge 468 dining room, 900 Gates Ave.
Blood transfusions are vital for people like Mia, a 15-year-old born with Diamond Blackfan Anemia, who requires the transfers every month. According to a UBS press release, Diamond Blackfan Anemia is a rare disorder that prevents the body from producing red blood cells.
“Mia is alive today because of people who donate blood,” Mia’s mother, Kristi, said in the release.
Blood drives will also take place Thursday and Friday in Bullhead City, and Friday in Lake Havasu City. Additional information regarding times and locations can be found at www.BloodHero.com.
All blood types are needed, though type O-negative is in the greatest demand. Call 1-877-827-4376 or visit the website above to make an appointment.
