Sahn “Sunny” Malquist

Sahn “Sunny” Malquist’s life was well-lived and she was well-loved. The Lord called her home in a peaceful manner at the White Cliffs Memory Care Center in Kingman, Arizona, April 4, 2019 in her 78th year.

Sunny was a gentle, loving, caring, and wonderful person. She has left a permanent mark etched in our hearts and will be supremely missed by her family and friends.

She was born in Vietnam and married Dale Malquist in 1972 before coming to the United States. Sunny spent her life working hard, dedicated and not afraid of anything. Sunny was a strong, independent woman. She owned the “Putting Green” on Miracle Mile in Bullhead City before relocating to Golden Valley where she owned the Castle Rock Bar & Grill.

Sunny was preceded in death by her husband; Dale Malquist, and her parents; Pham Ngoc Tuu and Vo Thi Su.

Sunny is survived by her daughter; Susan Linn (Ron) from Marco Island, Florida, one grandson; Ron Linn, three granddaughters; Vanessa Callicoat, Jordan Lewis, and Susie Linn, three great-grandchildren; Kyleigh, Dominnick, and Pace. She also leaves behind 10 brothers and sisters and many nieces, nephews, cousin and friends who will miss her.

A very special thank you to her niece; Hahn Holcomb, who provided love, comfort, and guidance to Sunny as her Alzheimer’s progressed the last four years. Our family will never be able to thank her enough for her compassion and unselfishness. We are truly grateful and humbled. Hahn is a true hero.

The family expresses appreciation to the caregivers at Living Water Hospice, who helped us through the pain and apprehension as we watched our loved one go home.

A Celebration of Sunny’s Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 13 at Castle Rock Bar & Grill, 3743 U.S 93 in Golden Valley.
