Prep Roundup: Booth notches top finish for Lady Vols
KINGMAN – The Lee Williams High School girls golf team couldn’t beat Prescott Tuesday, but Paige Booth finished first with a 6-over 42 at Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course.
The Lady Vols shot a 115-over 259 for second, while Prescott was first with a 60-over 204.
Lee Williams’ Bella Bruno was fifth with a 19-over 55, followed by Kingman’s Abby Davis in eighth (32-over 68). The Lady Vols also had Angelina Long finish ninth (36-over 72), followed by Raki Martinet in 10th.
Kingman and Lee Williams return to Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course at 2 p.m. Thursday to battle Mingus.
At Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course, the Vols narrowly notched a first-place finish Tuesday as they shot a 17-over 161 to outduel Prescott’s 19-over 163. Mohave Accelerated finished in third with a 28-over 172.
Cole Finch led Lee Williams with a 2-under 34 for first, followed by Brady Clark in fifth (4-over 40), Pason McCans in eighth (7-over 43), Robert Brackett in a tie for ninth (8-over 44) and Caden Moore in 14th.
The Vols travel to Mohave at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Lee Williams 3, Prescott 1
At Prescott, the Lady Vols bounced back from their first loss of the season and did so in convincing fashion with a 3-1 victory (26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 25-13) over Prescott.
Lee Williams (6-1, 3-1 4A Grand Canyon Region) hosts Bradshaw Mountain (5-2, 2-1) at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Kingman 3, River Valley 1
At River Valley, it is no secret that the Lady Bulldogs struggled last season in a winless season. However, Kingman High took a step in the right direction Tuesday night with a 3-1 victory (22-25, 26-24, 25-7, 25-15) over River Valley.
It is the Lady Bulldogs’ first win since a 3-2 victory on Oct. 10, 2018 on the road at River Valley.
Kingman (1-6, 1-1 3A West Region) travels to Bullhead City Saturday for the Colorado River Invite and then makes the short trip to Kingman Academy (4-3, 2-1) at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
