Waterline project forces Kingman road closure
KINGMAN – The closure of Western Avenue from Riata Valley Road to Airway Avenue will begin Monday, Feb. 22 and continue through Friday, Feb. 26 as part of the city’s main tanks transmission main water project.
The city wrote in a news release that the project to install a new water transmission main between Stockton Hill Road and the main tanks on Anson Smith Road began Jan. 4, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by May 16 of this year. The total cost is $1.99 million.
The contractor, Freiday Construction, is working with residents and businesses in the area regarding notification, but no water service delays or disruptions are expected. Access to businesses and residences will remain open, the release noted.
“This project is the continuation of a multi-phased project to improve water delivery to city water storage tanks that will allow our infrastructure to run more efficiently, resulting in an overall benefit to our customers,” the city wrote.
Up-to-date street closures can be found on the city’s engineering website page at https://www.cityofkingman.gov/government/departments/engineering/gis.
