UniSource customers encouraged to contact company after drop box theft

KINGMAN – UniSource Energy Services is encouraging Kingman-area customers who recently dropped off bill payments to contact them as some payments were stolen from a courtesy drop box.

UniSource wrote in a news release that customers who utilized the drop box at UniSource’s administrative office at 2498 Airway Ave. between Friday, Sept. 17 and Monday, Sept. 20 are asked to call 877-837-4968 “as soon as possible.”

According to the release, the theft occurred at about 3 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20. Surveillance footage reportedly shows two people tampering with a lock and removing multiple envelopes from the drop box before walking south on Rutherford Street. Footage is being given to the Kingman Police Department, and UniSource is evaluating measures to increase security at the site.

“Customers are also encouraged to review their bank accounts to see if check payments have cleared, and to contact their financial institutions to discuss security measures that can help prevent account and identity fraud,” UniSource wrote.
