Shirley Ann McAlister-Hernandez

Shirley Ann McAlister-Hernandez was born Aug. 29, 1938 in Beaumont, Texas and passed away on July 23, 2022 at the age of 83 in Kingman, Arizona.

Shirley is survived by her son Robert Michael Foreman; daughter-in-law Mayli Foreman; daughters Regina Gail Runstrom, Pamela Jane Murdoch and son-in-law John “Jack” Robert Murdoch. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Althea Bea Rountree; her father, Robert Lowell McAlister; brothers Jack Edward “Rusty” Rountree, and Phillip and Robert McAlister; and daughters Mary Elizabeth Leblanc and Tamela Jean Montgomery.

Her childhood was spent in Dayton, Texas and she lived in many places in the southern states as an adult until she settled in Golden Valley, Arizona in 1996. She raised 14 children -- five of her own, five grandchildren and four stepchildren. She was a very strong lady! She loved the Lord more than anything and her church with the fellowship she had there. Mom loved to dance and sing for Jesus; she was the most devoted Christian I ever knew. Her Christian music was always playing when you went to her home or she had TBN on the TV as loud as it would go (Mom wasn’t a fan of hearing aids). She loved to play the piano and the harpsichord for the Lord and could sing like a dream. She was self-taught on her instruments.

Mom loved to eat out and probably would have at every meal if she could. She loved trying new food and I think she hit every restaurant in the Kingman area. Shirley had many friends and loved to visit with anyone willing to let her pray for them or with them. Mom loved her family and her heart was a heart of gold. She is dearly loved by her family and all the hearts she touched. She will forever be in our hearts and will always be missed. Mom lived her life for the Lord and no other. She’s with him now and in his loving arms.

I would like to thank the Lingenfelter Center’s nurses and staff that showed how much our Mom touched their lives. Services will be held at Abundant Grace Fellowship Church 3355 Magma Road, Golden Valley, Arizona on Aug. 7, 2022 at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will follow in the Abundant Grace Fellowship Hall.
